INFECTION PREVENTION & CONTROL

Screening

We perform screening of all individuals for infectious illnesses. This screening may be done on the phone, and/or in-person.

Infection Prevention

Supreme Caregiver Support cares about the safety of all caregivers, healthcare staff and our most vulnerable clients. We provide our own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on each visit to your home, which includes mask, uniform, eye protection, hair protection (if applicable), footwear protection, and gloves. The goal is to reduce the risk of the spread of bacteria-causing microorganisms between clients and the caregiver.

Infection Control

We use a 1 and 2-step cleaning and disinfecting process on all re-usable medical equipment (e.g., blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, oxygen saturation monitor, thermometer, etc.). Some clients may choose to use their own reusable equipment, which would significantly prevent the spread of infection from one client to the next. We also use single-use equipment (e.g., foot and wound care tools) that are disposed of after each single use.

Hand Hygiene

We practice hand hygiene by cleansing with soap and water and by using alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR). Both are effective ways of eliminating the spread of germs. As outlined by Infection Prevention and Control Canada, proper hand hygiene is the single-most important infection prevention and control practice.
