DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN GET AN INFECTION IF YOU TRIM YOUR NAILS INCORRECTLY?

The cuticle and hyponychium are two very important membranes. They are both thin pieces of tissue that provides protection from invading bacteria. The cuticle protects the nail from the top, and also functions to keep bacteria and germs from invading the toenail. The hyponychium grows just under the nail, providing protection from bacterial infection into the nail bed. The cutting or trimming of these membranes can be quite dangerous because it creates an opening for infection.
